To assemble one card, follow these simple instructions:

1. Place the stamp rubber side up and ink with the Soft Suede Classic Stampin’ Spot.
2. Stamp “Happy Birthday” at the bottom of the card front.
3. Ink the Sponge Dauber with Soft Suede ink and gently antique the doily and the edges of the dress form.
4. Adhere the pieces to the card front in this order:

Colored Penciled Bird and Stampin' Up Online Sale Today!

I think this Stampin' Up! set is just lovely. So I decided to try to create a card using colored pencils. A more realistic look. 

Nature Walk

I stamped the images in black ink and then started coloring. Colored pencils can be layered. Since they are translucent you can blend right on the paper. Using one of the paper from SU! Smooth Card Stock - Neutrals Collection for the background helps to give the coloring more depth. (As apposed to using white card stock.) Always try your colored pencil first on a piece of scrap paper as the color will appear different when it is applied to the paper the colored card stock.

Experiment and have fun. Remember, part of learning to color well is making a lot of mistakes at first. That's okay.

3 easy steps to assemble the cards:

1. Stamp the doily image in Daffodil Delight or Old Olive ink three times on the card and once on the envelope, re-inking between uses.

Fall

 

Fall is in the air.

I love this time of year. And I just had to put out some autumn decorations. Time to turn off the AC and open the windows. I get in the "cleaning" mood and baking mood.

Stampin' Up! Sets for Sale

I did try to save on shipping for the people that sent in orders. I packed them in smaller boxes or padded envelopes. 

What did I find?

Well, as I thought, because of the weight of the wood mounts these set cost more to ship.

Shipping them priority actually saved on some orders or the orders cost the same as if I had shipped priority.

I'm not making any money on shipping. I would refund any difference if the sets shipped cost me less than I charged you on your invoice.

So far, that hasn't really been the case.

Just wanted to pop in and say that I've listed some stuff on my  "Page" for sale.  Mostly SB dies and punches I no longer use. I few sets. As I get the chance I'll keep listing stuff either here or on my Etsy store. It's just really time consuming, KWIM?

Changes

I became interested in stamping when my sons 2nd grade teacher invited me to a Stampin' Up! Party. Little did I know that in a few years I would be designing rubber stamps. That was back in 2007. 

I joined Ginak Designs in 2008. Hard to believe that its been three years, this month. I honestly have to say that it has been the most wonderful experience ever and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Gina has been a joy to work for and I have learned so much from her over the years. She graciously took me in as one of her early illustrators and has always given me great flexibility in what I drew for her.  She has always been fair, honest and a joy to work for. I will truly treasure all of the years that I worked with her and her designers.

As you can gather from this paragraph I have made some decisions about the direction that I want to go this year. It's not something that came up suddenly, at least not for me, but something that I have given a lot of thought to over the past year. My life is moving quickly in a different direction and I have to be more flexible to change with it.   The changes are more personal than professional and hence harder to talk about.  Hard to put into words, since my motivations may seem based more on emotion than reason. Hard to put the rational on what may seem irrational. But for me, at least, it makes sense.

I have resigned my position as an illustrator for GinaK Designs. I am not moving on to design stamps for another company or to start my own stamp line. I have decided that it is time for me to make a change and part of that change  is that I will not be illustrating rubber stamps.

For the moment I will be taking a long break. I may from time to time come up with something and pitch it to Gina and see if she wants to use it, but this will be up to me. Gina now owns the copyrights to all of the images that I have designed for her since 2008. They will continue to be available at GinaK Designs and I look forward to seeing them used by her wonderful design team.

Please understand that the images are not being retired. They are copyrighted and in no way should my leaving  Ginak Designs be construed as the images being available for your own/companies use to be made into digital or rubberstamps. (I just had 2 of my images used by an artist who sold them as her own works, unbeknownst to the company she was designing for. This is a big no-no! You can not take someone else's images, flip them or change a couple of things and pitch them as your own. If you are not familiar with copyright laws then please see the link at the side of my blog and become familiar with what it says.)

I leave it up to you if you wish to continue to follow my blog as I'm currently transitioning away from it being mostly stamp related. I'm toying with the idea of starting another blog (this one will continue to be available too so that you can still use some of the tutorials on it) and I will share a link to the new blog if and when I start it.

For right now, I'll still be posting on this blog and I will start sharing all of the things that I want to sell. I have already updated my Stamps for Sale page with a few more items.

Thanks for all of your support over the years and I hope that you will enjoy the new journey that I will be taking. It's gonna be an interesting one!

Purging

It's time to start purging and letting go of a few things.

So I'll be holed up in my room most of the week, creating piles - toss, keep and sell. 

Check back here on my blog and my Etsy store for the items that I will be getting rid of. I plan on selling a bunch of my older Stampin' Up! sets. Please don't email me to see what I have, just be patient and I'll post a picture. (These stamps will have an additional shipping cost since they are made of wood and too heavy to ship for free. Sorry.)

So hang in there with me as I purge my room of all the "stuff" that is crowding my world lately.

Paper Smooches Co-Hop

Fun Stuff

These are sample for my next Copic Coloring Class at A Small Cleverness, this Thursday. I love the images by Impression Obsession. Truly gorgeous illustrations.

Here's a picture of my second Copic Beginners class I taught on Saturday. We had so much fun! The ladies all did a great job and I really loved teaching them.

And then when I got home, after a wonderful day of teaching coloring, I found all of these goodies in the mail! I ordered a bunch of gorgeous ribbons from Hambo Stamps. Oh can hardly wait to start playing with them.

What a great weekend.

 

Winter Wings

I've wanted to get my oil paints out and create something on a canvas for quite some time now. I had these little tiny canvas, 2 x 2 3/4, laying around and it hit me. Why not stamp one of my new bird images on the front of it and use my oils to create a painting.  The oils I used are by Reeves and they came in a small set. They are water mixable oils. Which is great because I have always hated the mess oils create. These are easy clean up and act just like oil paints, in just about every way.

Now if only I would dig out my pastels!

My Cup of Tea

I've been wanting a beautiful stamp set of tea inspired images and I'm loving this one by Rupa! It's gorgeous.

I stamped the stack of cups and colored them in using watercolor pencils. Wanted to keep it simple.

Preview Days Ginak

Today starts the preview for 8 new stamp sets and 5 new card kits that will be available for purchase this Thursday, September 30th after the StampTV release party at 10pm central.

Each month going forward, Ginak new release stamp sets and future StampTV kits will come to you pre-cut on cling cushion. (Thet will also be pre-cutting some of the previous sets but not at first. When they do become available pre-cut, they will notify you.)

First Christmas

 

I'm so excited to be able to share a card I created using one of the images from my new set for Ginak Designs called "First Christmas". I had so much fun illustrating these images and I hope you enjoy using them when you create your christmas cards and gifts this year. 

I stamped my little bear twice and colored him using Copic markers R46, R59, E31, E33, and E53. I cut the hat out and adhered it to the bear using 3M foam tape. I then added some Liquid Applique to the hat and heat set it to make it poof. I stamped the saying and punched it out using a 1 inch square punch.

 

Also featured tonight will be a fabulous new set created by Nina.
